Jordan x UNC Advertisement
This ad was featured in the Men and Women’s Basketball programs sold at the home games. The assignment was to use existing unc-branded images, Jordan-brand shoes, and the UNC brand guide to create an advertisement that represented both brands equally.
Sketching
The majority of my time was spent in figuring out what photos were best to use for the project. Many images were quite overused at that point in the year. So, I was trying to use fresher ones. Most of the photos of shoes we had on hand were of exclusives just available to our players except a pair of Jordan Ones. So, I thought that was the best shoe to use. The Triangle featured in both sketches was found in a picture of the corner of the basketball in the Dean Smith Center. I thought it would be a great element to pull focus to the shoe.
Final Product
Despite being one of my first projects at UNC, this is still one of my favorites. The biggest challenge from sketch to execution was making sure the background elements molded together in a way that wouldn’t outshine the shoe itself. Additionally, making sure the typography and colors matched brand standards were two things that were very important to keep intact.
