The main goal of using lip balms is to hydrate your lips. Lip balms are usually made from shea butter, oils, and or beeswax.  You could either wear them on their own or use them before other types of lipsticks to prevent your lips from drying out.

A very big trend from the1990s and 2000s is making a comeback. Lip gloss is a way to both hydrate your lips and elevate your look. Lip glosses can be completely clear, slightly tinted, frosted, glittery, and metallic. One of the biggest downfalls of this type of product is it will be gone in a few hours. If you eat, it will be completely gone. Also, it can make your hair stick to your lips on a rainy day.

Lip Plumper

Lip Plumpers are a specific type of lip gloss. They are used to make your lips appear bigger. However, this is done in a very uncomfortable and sometimes painful way. Lip plumpers have added ingredients to make your lips tingle or even burn. As a result, your lips swell achieving the look.

Bullets or tubes of Lipstick are the most classic way of applying lipstick. This type of product can be applied straight from the tube or with a lip brush.  It is an easy way to apply color that will last you for the majority of the day. However, the finish of this type of lipstick heavily influences how long it will last on your lips through eating and everyday life.

The most common finishes of bullet lipsticks are matte and cream. Matte lipsticks have a dry/ powdery finish to them. As a result, these tend to last longer than cream lipstick. Cream Lipsticks have a softer finish but do not last as long. A big downside to this type of lipstick is if they do not try down properly, they are very prone to transfer on everything. This includes everything from your coffee cups to your chin. Also, do not leave tubes of lipstick outside when it is hot. They will melt!

Liquid lipsticks are the bulletproof vests of the lipstick world. They are much less transfer prone than bullet lipsticks. Some can be worn through pizza and burritos without moving an inch. Much like bullet lipsticks and lip glosses, they come in a number of different finishes. These can include matte, glitter, metallic, frosted, and satin. There are a few cons to this type of lipstick.

The biggest one is certain brands can be very drying on your lips. Although lip scrubs and lip balms can help, they are not 100% effective. Also, unlike cremes, these lipsticks can be difficult to apply for a novice. Additionally, if not done with the right products, they can be extremely difficult to get off.
